2010-2011 Message from the Director

1. The Advisory Council completed their work on the development of the Early Childhood Framework Boulder County, based upon a state version of this document.  This is basically a logic model that takes the mission/vision of ECCBC, details the guiding principles of a comprehensive early Childhood system for Boulder County, specifies outcomes for all young children in Boulder county, identifies specific prioritized strategies to meet the goals, and specifies the indicators used to measure success toward the ready community, ready family, ready early learning and ready child goals.  This document-and only the Boulder Council of the 30 statewide councils has focused this document at the county level-is being used to ensure that early care and education programs and services are aligned county wide.
   
   
2. The Board of Directors of ECCBC voted in September to terminate the fiscal sponsorship agreement with the city of Boulder and to become a free standing 501(c)3.  This was the second step in a two step strategic plan, the first being to merge with an existing non profit (County Kids First) so that ECCBC become a 501(c)3.  The second step is to physically move to a new location in the Foothills United Way Building in Lafayette.  The ECCBC Board wishes to thank the Boulder City Council and staff for the support given to the council over the past 10 years.  They also wish to express their appreciation for United Way Foothills for providing leased space at a reduced rate and various bookkeeping functions on a no fee basis.  This move would not have been possible without the support of both of these organizations. 
   
   
3. The Finance Task Force completed their charge and has made recommendations to the ECCBC Board of Directors who will decide the next steps in the development and implementation of a comprehensive early childhood system for all of Boulder County.
